SOETERD FESTIVAL

Imagine, you take the boat from Den Helder

and set foot on Texel.

Immediately, you step into a world

where art and nature merge.

As you breathe in the island's tranquility and space,

paths lead you to a series of artworks.

From 2025, the ambition of the SOETERD FESTIVAL is to organize a leading art event. During the months of May through September, Texel transforms into a vibrant contemporary open-air museum.

Under the guidance of prominent curators, artists are stimulated, with annually changing themes, to reflect on societal and ecological issues and to encourage visitors to engage in dialogues about the necessary changes for a better future.

Land art pieces and art installations will be temporarily scattered throughout Texel, both in the Texel Dunes National Park and in prominent buildings and churches in Den Burg, Den Hoorn, De Waal, Oudeschild, and Oosterend.

The SOETERD Festival offers access to all impressive landscape and installation art across the entire island with a single pass. Purchase your ticket online; the SOETERD APP serves as your entry pass and provides information about artists, routes, and opening hours. Everything accessible on your device.

But that's not all. In addition to the SOETERD FESTIVAL, there is also KUNSTZOMER TEXEL happening simultaneously, where visitors can enjoy a diversity of young and local talent, presenting themselves in their studios and through performances and exhibitions.

During the festival, visitors can not only enjoy what Texel already has to offer but also enhance their experience with additional pop-up restaurants and food trucks at unique locations. Additionally, we strive to serve as much local, sustainable, and healthy food and drinks as possible. Discover pure Texel products and specialties during the festival.
